In 2016, Apple removed the headphone jack from its iPhone and in 2017, it seemed, the rest of the mobile industry would follow suit, leaving us with only a choice between a Lightning or USB-C dongle. But a cool thing is happening at Mobile World Congress this year: Android phone manufacturers are shrugging off the jack-less fad and are forging ahead with the traditional 3.5mm headphone output intact.

Third-party AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) clients use AOL's OSCAR chat protocol to connect to the service. It seems that AOL might be shutting OSCAR down, leaving AOL's own client as the only way to connect.

Don’t get me wrong, the 3310 might be a fine featurephone. I wouldn’t know, I haven’t used it. My colleagues on the ground at the big MWC show tell me it’s a “fun phone” and “solid for what it is,” which is basically a gussied up “Nokia” 150 launched without notice in December. No, what bugs me is the audacious brand exploitation behind it.

Sound United, the parent company of a bunch of audio brands including Polk Audio and Definitive Technology, announced today that it’s bought the D+M Group — parent company to another bunch of audio brands, including Denon, Marantz, and Boston Acoustics.
The acquisition is a pretty big wrap-up for the audio market. Sound United is already the largest supplier of loudspeakers in North America, and the D+M Group is the largest supplier of A/V receivers worldwide. Denon’s branding has also appeared on a number of well-respected high-end headphones, including the Denon AH-D7000 (although technically they’re made by Fostex).
All these brands will now come under the same roof, with the resulting company operating as Sound United.
