TiVo is ready to launch integration with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. Today the company announced that its series 4 (Premiere), 5 (Roamio), and 6 (Bolt) DVR boxes are receiving an update that will let customers instruct an Alexa-enabled device in their living room to perform core functions like changing channels, launching a streaming app, skipping commercials, and more through voice commands. Alexa can also control playback and pause, fast forward, rewind, or jump back 8 seconds in the content you’re viewing. The rollout should be complete by June 1st.
But from the sounds of it, you can’t search for content, schedule recordings, or set up a OnePass season recording for TV shows by using Alexa. TiVo’s own Vox remote is still the way...
