Luxturna becomes first gene therapy approved to treat an inherited disease

The FDA has approved Luxturna, a  form of gene therapy that seeks to treat retinal dystrophy, a rare eye condition affecting cells in the retina. This marks the first time the FDA has approved gene therapy for an inherited disease.
