As part of the hearings into how Russia used social media to influence American opinion, House lawmakers released a handful of Facebook ads linked to the online meddling campaign.
In one example, a group named “Back the Badge” was promoted on the service, described as a “community of people who support our brave Police Officers.” Another, for a page called “Blacktivist,” appeared with the description, “Say it loud: I’m black and proud!” One page, which included an eagle alongside American flags, was called “Being Patriotic.”
